radical transparency: it strikes me that outing is not far from legislating morality, and it is like using the law to abolish sin, or make it impossible.
It is one thing for a person to be transparent as part of an expression of their own values and sense of ethical integrity. It is quite another for something like that to be imposed and it suggests that there is little respect and tolerance for humanity in so doing.
It is unfortunate that those who see themselves as victims have only what they see about their oppressors as role models for what works.

I put those that preach "radical transparency" in the same category as those who put razor blades in Halloween candy.

Fear mongering: People get juice from fear mongering.
From time to time when I would receive a bogus virus warning, I would fact check the warning and report back to the sender (someone repeating one of these anonymous threat messages) that the warning is a hoax.
What I noticed is that this did not stop the behavior, it just stopped people from sending the warnings to me.
I asked someone why they continued to do this and they said, "well, they could rely on me to determine the facts"-- but of course it is still a broadcast message and they aren't submitting them to my fact checking any longer.
